Wes Anderson’s “The French Dispatch” may be a signal to change the director needs
/
It’s 1996 and a film came out called Bottle Rocket. The film itself was okay, a quirky romantic-comedy story with some off-beat and fun characters. You wouldn’t expect that kind of quality from the box office numbers though as it managed to only make back about a twelfth of what it cost to make the…

Alec Baldwin’s position as a producer in the “Rust” shooting should be criticized more than his role an actor
/
“One in a trillion” is how Alec Baldwin recently talked about the tragic accident on the set of Rust. It was on Oct. 21, when Alec Baldwin shot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins with a gun that he believed to only be filled with blanks. It’s a story as wild as it is heartbreaking. It seems almost…

/
Writing a feminist protagonist in a film feels like it should be easy on paper, but in reality, few pull off the feat seamlessly. For writers, there are two ways to approach this issue; the easy way and the hard way. The easy way to write a female heroine is to, simply put, write her…

Instead of leaning on tired tropes, movies could really use some more originality
/
Recently, I was watching the film Free Guy. It was… fine up until the end where during an epic final confrontation, Ryan Reynolds pulled out Captain America’s shield, a hulk fist, Megaman’s blaster, and then a lightsaber all with the appropriate accompanying music. I’ve been seeing this more and more in movies over the last…
