Spruce and King’s Court Residences voting off campus

Laurier students who live in both Spruce St. Apartments (325 Spruce St.) and King’s Court Residence (345 King St. N.) will not be able to vote on campus today.

Instead, those wishing to vote will need to do so at the Waterloo Public Library on Albert Street.

“Originally everyone was supposed to be able to; all residences were supposed to be able to vote on campus,” said vice president: university affairs Saad Aslam. “However, I think on Thursday the city clerk e-mailed us saying there was an oversight on their part and they missed those two residences.”

Both residences, located north of University Avenue on King Street, are part of Ward 6, unlike the other residences located on and around campus, which are part of Ward 7.

Staff in these residences were notified last week and were to pass along this information to their students.

“Messages that went out to res life staff were originally saying that all students vote on campus but it was corrected,” said Aslam.
