Men’s hockey bounces back in game two

GUELPH, Ont. — The Laurier men’s hockey team roared back to even up their Ontario University Athletics (OUA) West playoff series with a 3-0 win over the Guelph Gryphons on Saturday night in Guelph.

Goals from team captain Jean-Michel Rizk, rookie Zack Woolford and veteran defenceman Phil Magistrale gave the purple and gold the victory while they were facing elimination.

Ryan Daniels was stellar in net for the Golden Hawks, bouncing back with a flawless game two after being chased in game one. The recently named OUA West player of the year would stop all 27 shots he faced for his first shutout of the post-season.

The third and deciding game of the series goes tonight at the Waterloo Recreation Complex with puck drop at 8:00. The winner will advance to the OUA West finals to play the winner of tonight’s game three in the other semi final between Western and Waterloo.
