Laurier student Jenna Lorente passes away

Earlier today, Wilfrid Laurier confirmed the passing of second-year student Jenna Lorente.

Lorente passed away suddenly earlier this week while she was at home studying for exams. Lorente, 19-years-old, was a kinesiology student at Laurier.

In honour of the loss to the campus and community, Laurier has lowered their flags to half-mast across the university.

“A celebration of life will take place Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., with a eulogy at 4 p.m., at the Lynn-Stone Funeral Home in Elmvale, Ontario,” read Laurier’s press release.

“In lieu of flowers, Jenna’s family is requesting donations for the Canadian Mental Health Association of Midland for suicide prevention.”

Students impacted that are in need of support or are encouraged to reach out to the Laurier student wellness centre or the Delton Glebe Counselling Centre.
