Basketball teams get in the win column

The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks’ women’s and men’s basketball teams were both looking for their first wins of the season in their home openers on Friday night. Both teams found success against the Royal Military College (RMC) Paladins as the women cruised to a 74-43 win, while the men won a slightly closer game, 89-66.

Fourth-years Renata Adamczyk and Mallory Kolheimer led the way for the women’s team, putting up 14 and 13 points respectively, as the Hawks took advantage of a whopping 26 RMC turnovers on their way to the blow-out.

On the men’s side, veterans Jesse MacDonald and Kale Harrison racked up 21 and 20 points respectively, while second-year Travis Berry added 17.
