Hawks surprise undefeated McGill

Chad Kennedy racked up four points, and Paul Bradley continued to wield his hot hand with three points of his own as the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks’ men’s hockey team surprised the #4 nationally ranked McGill 8-4.

Six different men had multi-point outings for Laurier while they shut down the high-powered McGill offense allowing only one goal in eight penalty-killing opportunities.

Laurier net-minder Jeff MacDougald was solid making 39 saves on 43 shots, while McGill’s Hubert Morin and Hunter Shaw gave up four markers apiece on 32 Hawk shots.

With the win, Laurier improves to 7-2-1 on the season while McGill takes their first loss, moving their record to 6-1-0.

The Purple and Gold move on to face the Universite du Quebec a Trois-Riveres (UQTR) Patriotes Saturday evening at the Waterloo Recreational Complex.

The Patriotes are coming off of their first loss of the season as well on Friday evening as they were soundly beaten 5-1 by the Western Mustangs in London. Nevertheless, the men from Trois Rivieries, Quebec are a force to be reckoned with as they are highly prolific, scoring 40 goals in only nine games.
