WLU vs. Windsor women’s hockey postponed

The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks women’s hockey team didn’t even get a chance to extend their season-long winning streak on Friday night as their match-up with the Windsor Lancers was postponed when the officiating crew failed to show up to the game.

According to Laurier’s Athletics Department, when the schedule was originally released, this game was slotted for Sunday, Jan. 24 but had to be moved to Friday, Jan. 22. The referees didn’t make this adjustment and therefore were unaware that a crew should have been present on Friday night.

So, after a delay that lasted over half an hour, the two head coaches – Rick Osborne of Laurier and Jim Hunter of Windsor – mutually decided to re-schedule the game for a date that will be specified later.

The Hawks will get another chance at improving their record to 20-0 tomorrow at 3:00 when the Western Mustangs visit the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex.
