The Wilfrid Laurier University Studentsโ Union election season is now in full swing.
Virtual events have replaced in-person activities and campaigning this year in light of COVID-19 restrictions, and Laurier students will be able to participate and view the debates and forums online.
The 2021 Studentsโ Union President and CEO candidates are Pegah Jamalof and Joseph Small. Their platform summaries can be read here.
Following the All Candidates Meeting that took place on Jan. 10, the first Open Forum will be held on Jan. 13, starting at 10:00 a.m.
All Laurier students are welcome to attend and can do so by joining through the meetingโs Zoom link at the scheduled time. The second Open Forum is slotted for Jan. 21 at 10 a.m.

The first Presidential Debate will be held on Jan. 18 at 4 p.m. and the second on Jan. 25 at 7:00 p.m.
An Instagram Live with Presidential Candidates will be hosted on Jan. 26.
Voting days for the election will take place between Jan. 27-29 with Results Night falling on the 29th.
Last year, voter turnout was lower than expected with just 2,727 out of the potential 18, 589 members of the registered Laurier student body (6.8 per cent) who voted.
