Dave Patterson, one of three Wilfrid Laurier University Students’ Union presidential candidates, announced his withdrawal from the election Monday night.

After sustaining a concussion and neck injury early last week, Patterson declared in a Facebook post that he has not been able to put a full effort into his campaign and is not “physically or mentally able to complete the campaign period.” Patterson, who advocated on behalf of mental health and student wellness, said he needed to follow his own advice to help his recovery.

Patterson thanked his family, friends and campaign team for the support and wishes all of the candidates remaining the best of luck.
