Laurier student Shannon Rogers passes away

On July 6, Wilfrid Laurier University confirmed the passing of Shannon Rogers, a student at the Brantford campus.

Rogers was courageously battling cancer, and strongly advocated for those who are also battling cancer. She presented a Ted Talk called, “Thriving from Surviving: Lessons from childhood cancer.”

Rogers was an active member at the Brantford campus. She was President of the English Student Association and a volunteer with Queer Sphere at the Centre for Student Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.

Rogers is one of two Brantford students whose death was confirmed this week. Their deaths are not connected.

Additional support is available for students who need it and can be accessed through on-campus resources.
