Laurier student Gagandeep Sangwan passes away

Wilfrid Laurier University has confirmed the passing ofย Gagandeep Sangwan.

Sangwan tragically passed on July 16. He was hiking in Maple Ridge, B.C. at Gold Creek in Golden Ears Provincial Park where he drowned.

Sangwan had completed his third-year at Laurier in the honours bachelor of science program.

According to a Laurier press release, funeral services will take place on July 24 at the Fraser River Funeral Home in Abbotsford, B.C.

โ€œOur heartfelt thoughts are with Gagandeepโ€™s family and friends,โ€ David McMurray, vice-president: student affairs, said in a Laurier press release. โ€œHis tragic death is felt deeply within the Laurier community.โ€

Students impacted are encouraged to reach out to campus resources, such as the Student Wellness Centre.
