Laurier student arrested after posting shooting threat on social media

According to the Waterloo Regional Police, a Wilfrid Laurier University student has been charged in connection to a threat that was made on social media about a campus shooting.

Police allege that a post was made by a man, which was published on Feb. 6, which indicated that he was going to commit a shooting at Laurier.

As a result of an investigation that was started on Feb. 7, along with the assistance of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Laurier Special Constable Service, an 18-year-old male Laurier student has been arrested for uttering threats.

Police say there are no concerns for public safety.
