Gordon takes three OUA honours

/

On Friday, the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) women’s volleyball individual award winners were announced and Laurier first-year Julie Gordon was the recipient of three honours.

The Barrie native won the OUA west division rookie of the year award, was named a second team all-star and also made the all-rookie team. Gordon’s rookie of the year award is the first for Laurier women’s volleyball since Danielle Walker took home the honour in 2003-04.

Despite her team’s struggles -they finished with a 6-13 record, 14 points out of the playoffs- Gordon had a stand-out rookie season, leading the Hawks in both kills (143) and blocks (17), while playing more sets than anyone else on the team (67). She also led her team and tied for third in the nation in service aces with 32.
