The men’s football team at Wilfrid Laurier University defeated the Carleton Ravens 38-35 yesterday, securing their second win of the season.

This win comes hot off of last week’s shutout victory against the University of Toronto Varsity Blues.

“… ultimately I am happy we got the win against a quality opponent,” Head coach, Michael Faulds said to Laurier Athletics. “But there are things that will need to be improved on.”

Standout performances were noted from third-year running back Levondre Gordon, who rushed a career high of 208 yards and quarterback Michael Knevel, who also set a new career high, throwing 373 yards.

The Golden Hawks will head to Kingston for their next game to face up against the Queen’s Gaels next Saturday at Richardson Stadium.

Trailing last year’s successful season, it is important that the Hawks focus on longevity, but they are most certainly off to a great start.

“The overall message I give is that it is not a sprint; it is a marathon, this season,” Faulds said.
