Eight new COVID-19 cases reported on Tuesday, October 26

Health officials logged eight cases in Waterloo region on Tuesday, Oct. 26th, bringing the total number of active cases to 100 in the region. There are currently four outbreaks and 12 hospitalizations.ย 

50 cases were recorded over the weekend and the regionโ€™s total number of cases since the pandemic began surpassed 20,000. 

Province-wide, Tuesday marked the lowest number of new COVID-19 cases in Ontario since early August with 269 new cases logged.  

176 of these cases were people who were unvaccinated, partially vaccinated, or have an unknown vaccination status. The other 93 were fully vaccinated. 

There were six new COVID-19 related deaths in the province.

The latest data shows that public schools and child-care centres account for 44.2 per cent of all active COVID-19 cases in the province.

87.93 per cent of eligible residents in Ontario have received at least one dose and 83.98 per cent are now fully vaccinated.
