Charges made in connection to fatal shooting of Laurier student in December

Two men have been charged with second-degree murder following the fatal shooting of first-year student, Yafiet Rezene on Dec 15.

Police responded to the shooting at a Kitchener house party at 4:15 am, where Rezene was found dead on the scene. His death was confirmed by Laurier on Dec 16.

Two others are reported to have received gunshot wounds, but were later released from hospital upon recovery.

Police arrested two men — 23 and 28 years old — on May 4. Their names have not been released.

Both have been charged with second-degree murder and possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition.

The 23 year old is also facing two aggravated assault charges, and the 28 year old is facing a charge of possession of a firearm while prohibited.

Both men are scheduled to appear in court on May 5.
