Women’s volleyball falls to 1-8

After going 1-6 in first semester, things didn’t get any easier for the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks women’s volleyball team as they kicked off the second half of the season.

The last-place Hawks opened their second semester schedule with matches against the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) west’s top two teams in the McMaster Marauders and the Guelph Gryphons. And the two top teams proved to be too much for the purple and gold as the Hawks dropped both contests without winning a set in either match.

With the two losses the Hawks’ record falls to 1-8 which puts them in a tie with the Windsor Lancers for last in the OUA west.

The team will travel to Kingston this weekend for a match versus the 3-6 Royal Military College (RMC) Paladins on Friday, followed by a tougher test against the 7-1 Queen’s Gaels on Saturday.
