The Social Media Assistant is required to exhibit strong knowledge in their field. They should have extensive knowledge of popular social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok etc.) and thus are required to have good time management and communication skills and a creative spirit. Candidates for this position must:
- Communicate effectively with the Creative Director and EIC to produce meaningful digital content across formats;
- Must be comfortable to be in front of the camera;
- Work with the Digital Production Staff in creating/shooting and brainstorming content for The Cord’s social media accounts;
- Set aside extra time during busy times during the term (such as election season) to ensure The Cord’s social media accounts are updated in a timely manner.
- Having experience in managing social media accounts in a prior job or volunteer position OR having a closely curated and managed social media presence of their own setting is an asset;
- Having Photo & Video Editing and Graphic Design Experience is an asset;
- Attend All-Cord meetings;
When using social media in regards to The Cord or WLUSP, the director is expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and professional manner.
