Preliminary hearing of former OneCard manager enters day 3

/

The preliminary inquiry for the trial of former manger of Wilfrid Laurier Universityโ€™s OneCard office Nick Tomljenovic is now underway.

It began on Monday and will last until the witnesses’ have testified.

The lawyer representing the Crown Attorneyโ€™s Office David Russell explained that the Honourable Fiorella Heith has โ€œimposed a ban on publicationโ€ of any material presented during these hearings.

Russell explained that this is customary in cases that are expected to go to trial, which Tomljenovicโ€™s is.

The accused is being charged with Fraud Over $5000.

Tomljenovic severed as manager of the OneCard office until 2008, following an extensive audit of the office. The audit, conducted by external auditorโ€™s KPMG, lasted for nearly four months โ€“ between November 2007 and February 2008.

A Freedom of Information request filed by The Cord in April 2008 was denied on the basis of โ€œemployee-related matters.โ€
