Oktoberfest mandatory

/

Waterloo has hosted Oktoberfest for over 40 years and it has become the largest Bavarian festival in North America.

With so much enthusiasm focused on drinking and dancing for an entire 10 days between Oct. 9 and 18, it only makes sense that, as a student, it is a must-do event before oneโ€™s university degree is over.

It is an integral part of Waterloo culture and should be considered a mandatory component of life at WLU.

There are student-focused events such as Buff-toberfest, but there are also other events allow the student population to party and integrate with the locals.

Although the festival happens in the height of midterms, it is definitely worthwhile to branch outside of the student bubble and take a night (and no doubt a morning) to get fully immersed in the chicken dance and polka.

Serving the Waterloo campus, The Cord seeks to provide students with relevant, up to date stories. Weโ€™re always interested in having more volunteer writers, photographers and graphic designers.
