NDP leader dies at 61

Official opposition NDP leader Jack Layton, age 61, died this morning after a long battle with cancer. According to CBC news, though the battle with cancer was long, Layton died very quickly and peacefully, with his family by his side. Just last month in July, Layton announced that he intended to return to his position as Leader in September, ready to fight for Canadian families.

Details on the funeral have yet to be announced.
