Men’s hockey team opens with blow-out

The Cord’s Jamie Neugebauer reports that the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks men’s hockey team kicked off their 2010-11 season with an 8-0 win last night at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex.

The Hawks downed the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) Ridgebacks to start the season 1-0 for the third straight year. The win also marks the first under new head coach Greg Puhalski.

Rookie Mike Doran scored twice, while third-year Garret Sinfield racked up three assists. Second-year goalie Ryan Daniels made 32 saves for the shut-out.
