Men’s hockey sweeps weekend

The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks men’s hockey team went into their holiday break on high note over the weekend, winning their games against the York Lions and the University of Ontario Institute of Technoloy (UOIT) Ridgebacks.

On Thursday, fifth-year Paul Bradley, who leads the team in points with 30, continued his hot start to the season scoring a goal and adding three assists as the Hawks downed the Lions 8-3. Rookie goalie Ryan Daniels faced a 37 shot barrage from the Lions, turning aside 34.

The offensive explosion continued on Friday as the Hawks shut-out the Ridgebacks 7-0. Meanwhile, Daniels had another solid game, making 29 saves, on the way to the first shut-out of his Laurier career.

The Hawks now head into the break with a record of 12-4-1, putting them in second-place in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) West division and tenth in the national rankings.
