On Sunday morning a fire caused massive damages to a home on Marshall St.

Neighbours believe students live in the residence, however no one was home at the time of the fire.

The blaze started in a vehicle parked just outside the home, then spread to the car port and attic. By the time Waterloo Fire Rescue arrived at the scene, two cars were engulfed in flames in the car port.

The fire’s damages total $200,000-$250,000, including damages to the vehicles and the home.

At this time, the cause of the fire is not known, however it is currently being investigated as suspicious.

Waterloo Regional Police Service and Waterloo Fire Rescue are asking the public for information surrounding the fire.

“Investigators have issued an appeal to the public, whether they have any information in relation to this or saw anything around the time of the fire that caused them some concern and have not reported it,” said Olaf Heinzel, public affairs coordinator at WRPS.
