Laurier names 2009 Outstanding Business Leader


Peter Gilgan, president and chief executive officer of Mattamy Homes Corporation, has been named Laurier’s Outstanding Business Leader for 2009. Gilgan will be presented with his award at a luncheon at Wilfrid Laurier University on Jan. 6.

Mattamy is Canada’s biggest homebuilder, constructing more than 46,000 homes nationally. He is being recognized for his noteworthy achievements in the residential construction industry and his extensive involvement within the community.

Past winners of the award include co-CEO of Research In Motion Jim Balsillie (2008) and chief executive officer of Linamar Corporation Linda Hasenfratz (2007).
