It’s not my intention to attack the winners (Insignia), but merely to express the opinion, shared by many, that Andy’s Ego displayed a level of musicianship that no other band came close to that night. The band was extremely polished, and used different dynamics throughout the set to keep the crowd engaged.
Almost every attendee I spoke to – many of whom had never seen the band – agreed that it was the highlight of the night, by far. This begs the question: why didn’t Andy’s Ego win? More to the point, why were the A-Team’s judge’s essentially random individuals?
I think that these flaws have compromised this year’s Battle of the Bands. Based on the crowd’s reaction last Thursday, I am not the only attendee who feels this way.
