Digital media hub opens in region

Ontario is supporting a new commercialization centre that will help digital media entrepreneurs build new companies, creating thousands of jobs in the first five years.

The province plans to invest more than $26 million in the Communitech Hub: Digital Media & Mobile Accelerato, which will be located in the Waterloo region.

The Hub is a new centre that will help digital media companies grow in the global market. It will focus on companies’ creation of hardware and software for more industries than the entertainment sector.

City employees volunteer at food bank

25 City of Waterloo employees joined Mayor Brenda Halloran on Nov. 4 to volunteer at the Waterloo Region’s food bank.

These employees donated more than 739 pounds of food, which the city had been collecting from each facility since the donation period had begun.

Currently, the food bank is in need of peanut butter, stews, beans in sauce, canned meat, canned fish and rice.
