On Saturday, the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks’ women’s soccer squared off against the Brock Badgers in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Quarter-finals. The Badgers were the only team in the division that the Hawks failed to beat in the regular season.
This time, the Badgers couldnโt deny the Hawks their victory as Ali McKee and Heather Malizia continued their torrid scoring pace from late in the season, each contributing a goal in the 2-1 win.
The Hawks stymied the Badgersโ offence throughout the game with steady defence from Tania Pedron, Sadie Anderson, and Liora Berger.
โ[Our defence] was well-organized, and didnโt give up too many chances,โ said head coach Barry MacLean. โWe created way more chances than they did and it was a fair result for us.โ
The Hawks now set their sights on the semi-finals as they face the Queenโs Gaels on Saturday at York University field.
