Hawks move on to semi-finals

/

On Saturday, the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks’ women’s soccer squared off against the Brock Badgers in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Quarter-finals. The Badgers were the only team in the division that the Hawks failed to beat in the regular season.

This time, the Badgers couldnโ€™t deny the Hawks their victory as Ali McKee and Heather Malizia continued their torrid scoring pace from late in the season, each contributing a goal in the 2-1 win.

The Hawks stymied the Badgersโ€™ offence throughout the game with steady defence from Tania Pedron, Sadie Anderson, and Liora Berger.

โ€œ[Our defence] was well-organized, and didnโ€™t give up too many chances,โ€ said head coach Barry MacLean. โ€œWe created way more chances than they did and it was a fair result for us.โ€

The Hawks now set their sights on the semi-finals as they face the Queenโ€™s Gaels on Saturday at York University field.
