Gilgan to receive Laurier Outstanding Business Leader Award for 2009

The Laurier School of Business and Economics has named Peter Gilgan as the recipient of the 2009 Laurier Outstanding Business Leader Award.

Gilgan is the president and CEO of Mattamy Homes Crop. He is receiving this award in recognition of being “Canada’s biggest home builder”. The award will be given at a luncheon on Jan. 6 in the Senate and Board Chamber. The event takes place between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Mattamy Homes was started in 1978 and has built more than 46,000 homes in several Canadian cities and across the United States.

The award was first given out in 1987. Previous recipients include Jim Balsillie of RIM and Clive J. Beddoe, the CEO of WestJet.
