On Nov. 15 2022, former president Donald Trump announced he would be running in the 2024 American federal election. The announcement was made during his speech at his Mar-a-Lago resort where he promised to restore America to the state it was in during his former term.

“Two years ago, we were a great nation and soon we will be a great nation again” Trump said.

In his speech, Trump highlighted economic, security and international issues impacting American citizens and claimed, supported by his past presidency, that he could resolve these problems.

Trump highlighted that inflation is as high as it has been in 50 years and as a result gas prices are at a historical peak. He promised to restore America’s economic apex present two years ago by cutting taxes and regulations as he did during his former presidency.

Further, Trump notes that during his elected period, the southern border was the strongest it had ever been. He claimed the security had increasingly declined with Joe Biden as president.

According to Trump, this lack of security has resulted in people entering America for “sinister reasons” such as importing dangerous drugs like fentanyl. He claims that as president he will restore security and consequently decrease drug trafficking rates.

Trump also claimed that the pull-out from Afghanistan and Ukraine, two of the most influential military conflicts in recent history, would have been handled significantly better if he were the acting president. He argued that as president, the US will address situations, such as the recent missile attack on Poland, better than current president Joe Biden.

Donald Trump claims that only the republican party can remedy the detrimental state of the American nation. According to Trump, the people of America have not yet felt the full effect of their suffering. However, he claims that by 2024 they will.
