Chris Walker elected 2010-11 board secretary

The incoming Wilfrid Laurier University Students’ Union board of directors met Monday night at 10 p.m. for their second official meeting since the Feb. 4 elections.

During the meeting, director-elect Chris Walker was elected secretary of the board.

Walker defeated directors Chris Oberle and Ted Brown for the position. He emphasized his experience and interest in public policy and passion for student politics in his platform and speaking to the board after the vote.

“I just want to foster a good environment for the directors and help their ideas come forward in the coming year,” he said.

Candidates for secretary were given time to appeal to the others based on what they thought made them best suited for the position, and Walker was victorious after the secret ballot vote.

With only three directors, as well as chair-elect Hocking, returning from last year’s board, the meeting gave an opportunity for students to observe the actions of the incoming board.
