Charlie Kirk, a conservative political activist, media personality and the co-founder of Turning Point USA organisation was shot dead at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025.

The rally was Kirk’s conservative political college appearance in a series of events that took place from Colorado to Virginia and was called “The American Comeback Tour”.

Kirk, 31 was shot in the neck from about 100-200 yards away according to FBI’s statement.

His death was confirmed by Donald Trump on his social media page, “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”

Trump also announced that he would be honouring the late Kirk. He wrote “In honor of Charlie Kirk, a truly great American Patriot, I am ordering all American flags throughout the U.S. to be lowered to Half Mast until Sunday evening at 6 p.m.

Kirk’s death raises concerns over the gun violence that has been happening all around the United States due to their legalised gun rights under the second amendment. Kirk, who once termed the gun deaths as “worth it” while speaking about the mass shooting that took place in Nashville’s Christian Covenant School in 2023 was ironically shot dead while speaking about gun violence in Utah University.

The second amendment of the US constitute protects the American citizen’s right to keep and bear arms and that the government cannot infringe on this right.

Kirk, a very stern conservative Christian who always been the centre of many controversies due to his conservative political ideology and provocative comments on gender issues and race went to start his own foundation called the “Turning Point USA” in 2012 and went on preaching the conservative mindset to young people in different colleges and Universities.

Kirk had a whooping 5 million followers on his X account and later went to produce his own podcast called “The Charlie Kirk Show.”
