BREAKING: Man removed from campus dining hall after assaulting three Special Constables

A man was removed from the Wilfrid Laurier University dining hall today after an altercation which culminated in the assault of three Laurier Special Constables.

Users on Twitter offered information via a @SpottedLaurier thread which began, “What’s going on at campus tonnes of police”.

In response, several users on Twitter provided details regarding the incident, which allegedly became violent, with some noting the existence of a small pool of blood and police tape at the scene.

Laurier released a statement to The Cord following the incident which confirmed that the man removed from the school was in fact not a student at Laurier as users on Twitter had speculated.

The full statement provided to The Cord reads as follows:

“Laurier’s Special Constable Service is working in cooperation with Waterloo Regional Police Service following an incident on Laurier’s Waterloo campus involving a male who has no affiliation with Laurier. During the course of the incident, three Laurier Special Constables were assaulted. The male is in the custody of Waterloo Regional Police. As the matter is under police investigation, we are not able to provide further details. Students who witnessed the incident and who are in need of support are encouraged to visit the Student Wellness Centre.”
