A female Laurier student reported minor damage to the rear bumper (scratch) of her vehicle that was parked on Wilfrid Laurier controlled property. The responsible vehicle had left the scene. She will be reporting the incident to the Waterloo Regional Police Reporting Centre.

Members from the Waterloo Fire Dept. and Special Constables were dispatched to a fire alarm at a Residence in response to a Simplex alarm at that location. The cause of the alarm was smoke from the kitchen on the 3rd floor of the residence. Burning bacon in a frying pan set off the smoke detector.

SCS officers attended to the student residence in response to a complaint of suspected drug usage in one of the residences.  Patrolling Dons had smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the unit.  A small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia was seized for destruction.  No charges were laid.  One 17 year old female student and two 18 year old male students will be dealt with by Residence Life staff for the narcotics violation.

SCS officers and EMS attended to the stadium in response to a call for medical assistance.  A 21 year old male student was treated for a possible dislocated right shoulder sustained while playing a flag football game.  He was transported to Grand River Hospital by EMS for further treatment.

SCS officers attended to the gymnasium in response to a call for medical assistance.  A 19 year old female student had sustained a leg injury while playing basketball.  An ice pack was applied to the injury and she was taken home by her friends.  No further medical assistance was required.

Four female students inside the lounge in ‘D’ Wing received a scare when they spotted a person wearing a black mask looking in on them through the window of the lounge door.  It’s unknown whether this was a male or female.  No description was obtained.  They believed they heard laughter in the background so this could have been a prank in poor taste. SCS officers attended but the responsible person had fled prior to their arrival.  The immediate area was searched with negative results.

A female Laurier student had her laptop, charger and textbook taken from a study carrel on the 7th floor of the Library. She had left her belongings unattended at 10:00 am and on her return a half hour later discovered her property missing. CCTV camera footage will be reviewed by SCS for possible suspects.

A 20 year old male student using the facilities in the gymnasium complained to SCS that he had been approached and threatened by an unknown male party.   It was alleged that if an outstanding debt wasn’t paid that he and other people would be out to get him.  The perpetrator was gone upon SCS arrival.

A patrolling duty Don came across two female students in their room of the student residence in possession of marijuana and some drug paraphernalia in plain view.  SCS attended and seized a small quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia for destruction.  No charges were laid. An 18 & 19 year old student will be dealt with by Residence Life staff for the narcotics violation.

A SCS officer reviewing CCTV camera footage at the Athletic Complex in relation to the thefts from lockers observed a male person approach the counter by the Athletic desk with a wallet in his hand and discreetly discarding it on the counter and walking away.  The male was identified as the perpetrator suspected of having entered four men’s lockers around the same time at the A.C. The wallet was retrieved and identified as belonging to a 17 year old male student.  The owner was contacted and it was determined that the wallet had been stolen from another unlocked locker.  An undisclosed amount of cash had been removed.

Reference the four thefts from lockers in the Athletic Centre, a male suspect was identified by W.R.P.S. officers from CCTV camera footage obtained by SCS.  He was identified as a 37 year old local resident well known to W.R.P.S. who was also a suspect from entering lockers in the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Centre Complex on Father David Bauer Dr. in Waterloo from the previous day.  The investigation has been turned over to W.R.P.S.

SCS is investigating the theft of several items taken out of a backpack from the gymnasium.  This incident occurred on Tuesday, September 25th at approx. 5:30 pm.  The backpack had been left unattended in the gym while the owner was playing a game of basketball.  There are no suspects and no available video.

SCS is investigating the theft of a backpack removed from one of the public lockers located inside the entrance to the Dining Hall.  The backpack contained several books and a jacket.  It is believed that the locker had been left unlocked.  This occurred on Monday, September 24th between 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm.  CCTV camera footage was reviewed with negative results.

A male Laurier student reported his bicycle stolen from the underground parking garage at 345 King St. The make, model, and serial number are to follow. No Suspects to report at this time. Video in the area where the bicycle was locked up will be reviewed. The victim will check his records for the bike information.

Residence staff reported a case of unwanted contact between two residents.  A male student who is described as being socially awkward was making continuous contact with a female resident. He is reported as becoming jealous whenever anyone paid attention to her. Residence staff indicated that they would prefer to handle the situation and would contact SCS if things escalated.

Dispatchers observed a person enter the Parking Kiosk on Mid-Campus Drive and take a parking coat from the rack inside the booth. The officer was dispatched to the area and a brown male was standing on Mid-Campus Drive talking to two other males while holding the parking services coat in his hand. The male handed over the coat when asked and turned and ran away. The Officer went in pursuit but were unable to apprehend the culprit.

Officers responded to a report of a physical altercation in the NCC Quad. On arrival people were disbursing. One male with a swollen left eye was spoken to but he declined to explain what had happened or how his eye was injured. Since there is no complainant or witness no further action could be taken.

A special constable attended at Bricker residence in response to a report that a female resident had injured herself when she fell off a balance beam. She experienced pain in her upper back. She did not strike her head and refused any medical attention. She was able to get up off the floor on her own. No further action was taken.

A WLU student reported that someone had smashed the rear window of her vehicle while it was parked at a university house at 246 Albert St. There are no suspects.

A special constable responded to an alarm at the Kitchener location. The panel indicated a low pressure in the sprinkler system for the adjoining St Louis School. PP&P were contacted but the alarm had cleared itself. PP&P will look into the matter.

A male was reported to have been ripping up shrubs in the Nichols Centre Quad. A review of video footage was conducted but there was not enough evidence to pursue the matter.

A special constable responded to a drug complaint at a residence. A small amount of marijuana and some paraphernalia were seized. The matter is being dealt with by residence staff.

A special constable and Waterloo Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at a residence. There was no sign of smoke or fire. The cause of the alarm is believed to from gas and smoke coming from broken lights inside a damage Coke vending machine in the lobby. The alarm was reset and residents were allowed to re-enter the building

Special constables attended at a residence in response to a report that a male who was approximately 40 years of age would not leave when asked. The male had been invited back to the residence by residents when they met him at an off campus bar. When special constables arrived he left without incident stating that he was just finishing his beer.

Special constables and Waterloo Fire dept responded to a fire alarm at the Alvin Woods Building. The cause of the alarm was determined to be an activated pull station. Video footage revealed a male in the area but the pull station was out of camera range.

A special constable responded to an alarm at Northdale Campus. On arrival there was no alarm sounding and the panel indicated that the alarm was in an armed state. An interior check of the building was conducted and all appeared to be in order. A door on the west side of the building was found insecure and was secured. Alarm was reset.

While attending a residence on another matter a special constable observed a non WLU male wandering the halls. This male was known to the officer who also knew that the male had been issued with a written trespass notice prohibiting him from entering any WLU controlled property. He was arrested and charged with trespassing and subsequently released.

A special constable responded to a drug complaint at a residence. Four males had been caught by residence staff smoking marijuana outside an exit door at the northwest corner of the building. A small amount of marijuana was seized for destruction. Residence staff will be dealing with the students.

A special constable attended at a residence in response to a report that a female resident was experiencing severe stomach pain. On arrival the student was found sitting on the bed and indicated that she was feeling much better. She had been drinking and had vomited twice. She declined any medical attention. She was left in the care of the duty don.

While attending at a residence on another matter a special constable noticed damage done to a Coke vending machine in the lobby. Video footage was reviewed and a male was observed shoulder checking the machine causing the damage. He was located and identified and will be dealt with by residence staff.

Person(s) unknown tagged an emergency pole in the above noted location. The tag consisted of illegible writing in black marker. No suspects.
