SCS attended to the Turret Night Club in response to a call for medical assistance. A 19-year-old female student was assessed for a head injury sustained during a practice with her dance team. She received a kick to the head during a dance move and had temporarily ‘blacked out.’ She refused any medical attention and was released into the care of her roommates.

WRPS requested SCS assistance in establishing the identity of a male claiming to be a WLU student. He had been involved in an altercation with WRPS officers at the intersection of King and Hickory St. He was arrested and charged with Assault Police x2, Resist Arrest and Escape Lawful Custody. He was identified as a 22-year-old male WLU student.

By-Law Complaint

Reported: Feb. 6 at 2:40 a.m.

A 24-year-old London male resident was issued a Provincial Offence Notice pursuant to a local by-law offence. He had been caught in the act of urinating by the front doors of the SCS offices. He was sent on his way.

A pizza delivery was made to the student residence, but an issue arose on scene regarding the payment. The pizza was returned undelivered by the employee. Soon thereafter the pizza place started receiving numerous phone calls of a rude and vulgar nature from an irate female. The calls had come from the student residence. WRPS requested SCS assistance to identify the person responsible. Those results were negative.

SCS officers attended to the student residence in response to a call for medical assistance. A 19-year-old female in a fit of frustration had smashed her fist into a concrete wall. She experienced some swelling but nothing appeared to have been broken. She required no medical attention but will go to Health Services during office hours for an assessment. She was left in the care of her roommate.

Graffiti

Reported: Feb. 6 at 3:12 p.m.

A complaint was received about some obscene graffiti that some person(s) unknown had drawn a picture of a penis in chalk on the cement walkway outside of the Graduate Studies Office. Physical Resources was notified to have it removed.

SCS officers and EMS attended to a student residence in response to a call for medical assistance. An 18-year-old female student suffering from an allergic reaction had collapsed, was assessed by responding medics and transported to Grand River Hospital by EMS for treatment.

A SCS officer teamed up with WRPS members in conducting a ‘Door Knocker Program’ advising students and homeowners on and around campus about crime prevention measures to ensure the security of their possessions and homes during Reading Week.

Theft Under $5,000
Location: Kitchener campus
Reported: Feb. 7 at 7:44 p.m.

A student reported the theft of her bicycle from the Kitchener campus. The bike had been chained at its location and when she returned from her classes discovered that person(s) unknown had removed it. The bike is described as a, ‘Scott,’ red and black in colour with white handle bars, valued at $1,200. CCTV cameras were checked with negative results for a possible suspect.

Reported: Feb. 8 at 1:54 a.m.

SCS officers and members from the Waterloo Fire Dept. attended to the academic building in response to an activated fire alarm. It was determined that a fire alarm pull station had been pulled on the first floor. There was no fire. CCTV camera footage was reviewed and five suspects (two males and three females) were seen running from the scene and through the building onto Mid Campus Dr. Through their investigation one female has been identified. SCS officers are continuing their investigation.

Fraud

Reported: Feb. 8 at 4:40 a.m.

Campus Pizza made a pizza delivery to a unit at a residence. The customer attempted to pay with a WLU OneCard but a discrepancy arose between the actual card and the person presenting it. The pizza was not delivered. SCS was notified and attended but was unable to locate anyone in the apartment. SCS is investigating the matter.

Property (Lost and Found)

Reported: Feb. 8 at 5:10 a.m.

A SCS officer on mobile patrol discovered a bicycle discarded in the bushes on the south side of the Science Building. The bicycle is described as a blue coloured SC1800 Supercycle, serial number RH914962. WRPS was notified and the property has been stored.

Suspicious Person
Location: Arts C Wing
Reported: Feb. 8 at 4:08 p.m.

A concerned Laurier student reported a suspicious looking male in the Arts C Wing hallway on WLU controlled property. Officers checked the area for the individual but were unable to locate the male. It’s unknown if the person is affiliated with the university or could be a visitor. A still photo of the person was captured on camera and will be posted for the benefit of patrolling officers.
Suspect Descriptors:
Male, dark skin (Middle Eastern ethnicity), 20-21 years of age, wearing black clothing, red baseball cap and carrying a grey-coloured shoulder bag.

Reported: Feb. 9, 2012 @ 2:00 pm

Special Constables and EMS responded to a report of a 51-year-old staff member who struck her head after she tripped over a chair. She did not lose consciousness but was complaining of pain in her head, dizziness and blurred vision. The blurred vision symptoms subsided but she was taken to Grand River Hospital by EMS for further assessment.

Reported: Feb. 9 at 3:10 p.m.

A WLU student reported that his coat had been stolen at the Turret Night Club on the night of Sat. Feb. 4. Video footage was reviewed which did not provide any useful information. The coat is described as a grey-coloured tie coat and in one of the pockets was a set of Bose black-coloured head phones with silver and grey lettering on the ear pieces. There are no suspects.

Special Constables attended to the University Stadium regarding a 19-year-old female who had sprained her ankle while participating in a flag football tournament. She was treated at the scene. No further medical assistance was required.

Reported: Feb. 9 at 10:23 p.m.

Special Constables and EMS attended to the Athletic Complex gymnasium after receiving a report that a female student may have broken her arm while participating in a dodge ball tournament. The 19-year-old student was assessed by EMS and transported to Grand River Hospital for further treatment.

Reported: Feb. 10 at 1:20 a.m.

Special Constables attended to the student residence after receiving a report that an 18-year-old female WLU student had been brought back to residence by an unidentified woman. The woman was driving the student back to campus after finding her alone with some injuries to her face. She had a small cut and a bruise on her nose. The student was intoxicated and was having difficulty recalling the events of the evening. She was left in the care of a sober roommate who would monitor her condition throughout the night.

Reported: Feb. 10 at 10:53 a.m.

The WLU Fire Safety Officer notified Special Constables Service that there had been a small fire in a toaster oven in the Psychology Graduate Lounge at 232 King St. on Feb. 9. A staff member extinguished the fire and unplugged the appliance. Fire safety issues will be discussed with the staff in the area.

Special Constables and EMS responded to University Stadium after receiving a report that a female who was participating in the flag football tournament was suspected of having a spinal injury. The victim was identified as a 19-year-old student from Queen’s University. She was transported to Grand River Hospital by EMS for further assessment and treatment.

Special Constables, and EMS attended to the University Stadium to assist with a female participant in a flag football tournament whom had collided into another player. She was identified as a 19-year-old student from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. She was treated and refused any other medical assistance.

Liquor Offence
Location: Student Services Building
Reported: Feb. 10 at 10:40 p.m.

A Special Constable located an intoxicated female wandering around in the Dining Hall. She was identified as an 18-year-old WLU student. As she was underage she was advised to return to her residence and was accompanied by two friends. A verbal warning was issued for the liquor infraction.

Fire

Reported: Feb. 11 at 1:23 a.m.

Special Constables attended to the area outside the south entrance to C.H. Little House A- Wing after receiving a report of a small fire on the ground. On arrival the small fire was extinguished with snow and water. It appears that the item being burned was made of cloth. It is unknown how the fire was started. The fire was at least three metres from the entrance and at no time was there a danger of the fire causing harm to anyone or damage to the building. The WLU Fire Safety Officer was notified.

Unknown Call Requiring Police Assistance

Reported: Feb. 10 at 10:44 p.m.

Special Constable Service received a complaint from a female guest who had been evicted from the Turret Night Club. Her complaint was that she had been escorted out of the Turret Night Club in a rather “rough manner” by a female staff member who was not identified by her clothing as a security person and unlicensed. The matter is being investigated by SCS.

Special Constables attended to the Turret Night Club stairwell after receiving a report of a male vomiting there. He was identified as a 19-year-old WLU student. The male was turned over to Residence Life staff who returned him to his residence where he was monitored throughout the night due to his intoxicated condition.

A Special Constable encountered two males walking through the FNCC with open alcohol. They were both identified as 18-year-old WLU students. The alcohol was disposed of and the matter is being sent to the Judicial Affairs Council for review.

Special Constables encountered a male in the Bricker Academic Building lobby area. The male had been drinking and was in possession of some bottles of partially consumed alcohol. He was identified as an 18-year-old WLU student. The alcohol was disposed off and he was issued a Provincial Offence Notice pursuant to the Liquor Licence Act for the offence of ‘Being a Person Under 19 Years having Liquor’.

A Special Constable encountered a female vomiting into a bag in the Turret Night Club foyer. She was identified as an 18-year old-student. Foot Patrol was contacted to escort her back to her residence. A warning was issued for the liquor infraction as the student was underage.

Special Constables attended Little House in response to a call for medical assistance. An intoxicated 18-year-old male student was found on the floor of his room in a partial state of undress. He was assessed and left in the care of Residence Life staff and duty dons in order for his condition to be monitored during the course of the night.

Reported: Feb. 11 at 2:40 a.m.

Special Constables attended to a residence regarding a resident who was reportedly being disruptive to Residence Life staff. The male identified as an 18-year-old male student had been issued a Provincial Offence Notice earlier in the evening by SCS officers for a liquor offence.

Reported: Feb. 10 at 11:22 p.m.

A Special Constable attended to the washroom on the second floor east of a residence after receiving a report of a male who had consumed a combination of alcohol and drugs. The male was identified as an 18-year-old student. It was determined that the student had taken a prescribed medication. He was found vomiting into the toilet. A check with the Poison Control Centre was made and they advised that the student should be transported to hospital because this particular medication when mixed with alcohol could affect the heart. EMS was notified and the student was transported to Grand River Hospital for a further assessment and treatment.

Reported: Feb. 11 at 9:36 a.m.

A Special Constable found contractors grinding metal causing sparks working in the Science Research Building receiving area where oxygen and other tanks with flammable contents were stored. The WLU Fire Safety Officer was contacted and he advised the contractors be instructed to work outside.

Unknown Call Requiring Police Assistance
Location: Alumni Field, Emergency Pole
Reported: Feb. 11 at 11:58 p.m.

An unknown male caller activated the emergency pole and spoke to the SCS dispatcher complaining that he had been raped. SCS officers responded to the location and spoke to a group of males in the nearby vicinity that were suspected of having made the prank call. They were sent on their way with a stiff warning.

Drugs
Location: Science Building – Outer south east side
Reported: Feb. 11 at 12:23 a.m.

SCS officers on mobile patrol encountered two males that had been smoking a marijuana joint outside the building. The cigarette had been discarded upon their arrival. The males were identified as a 19- and 22-year-old WLU student. This matter will be sent to the Judicial Affairs Council for review.

911 (Administrative)

Reported: Feb. 12 at 3:38 a.m.

WRPS notified SCS Dispatch about having received a 911 hang up call with the caller breathing heavily. The call was identified as having originated from a pay phone in either the Bricker Academic Building or Bricker Residence. Responding SCS officers were unable to locate anyone in the areas that would appear to have been in distress.

Suspicious Vehicle
Location: University Stadium
Reported: Feb. 12 at 8:12 a.m.

A complaint was received about a vehicle in the parking lot of the stadium that had been there overnight with the engine running. SCS officers attended and determined that the unlocked vehicle was not stolen. The registered owner was found to be a Hamilton resident. The owner could not be located. The engine was shut off and the vehicle was locked by SCS officers. The vehicle had been seen entering the lot on a CCTV camera the day before with three occupants exiting the vehicle. There had been a ‘Powder Puff’ event on that particular day at the stadium.

SCS officers were called to attend the Turret nightclub regarding a female that had injured her back while dancing at a Residence Life function. EMS was called to attend the scene. Female student was transported to Grand River Hospital for treatment.

SCS officers were called to a residence regarding a student that was having anxiety and experiencing a rapid heart rate. EMS were contacted and requested to attend the scene. EMS transported the student to Grand River Hospital for treatment.

Drugs

Reported: Feb. 12 at 9:57 p.m.

SCS officers were called to attend a residence building regarding a student that was found using a controlled substance inside the residence room. A second-year student was identified and escorted from residence buildings. Drugs and paraphernalia were seized and taken to Waterloo Regional Police Service for destruction. No charges were laid.
