Attack on Albert St.

This week the Waterloo community was rattled when two women fell victim to attacks during daylight hours.

The first attack took place at 4 p.m. on Tuesday Sept. 22 and the second followed on Wednesday Sept. 23 sometime between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m.

Police are currently investigating the possibility that the perpetrator in each case, the first a robbery and the second a sexual assault, could be the same man.

“The purpose of the investigation at this time is to learn who this individual is,” said Olaf Heinzel, public affairs coordinator for the Waterloo Regional Police Service.

“We’ve put together a composite sketch with the information that we have at this point in hope that someone will recognize him.”

The woman involved in the first attack had her iPod stolen and received minor injuries, while the second victim was treated in hospital for injuries sustained in the assault.
