The way you dress is telling. Your clothes and appearance can show others what you value and how youโd like to be perceived.
For instance, people are likely to assume that if you dress in Nike runners and shorts on a daily basis, youโre athletic; if you wear fair trade organic cotton pants and hemp bracelets, youโre a bit of a hippie; if you have many piercings on your face and blue hair, that youโre a non-conformist (or trying to be); and
if you wear Lululemons and Ugg boots, youโre a โtypical Laurier girl.โ
Though often these assumptions are inaccurate, they may be an indicator of whatโs important to you.
Being aware of how others perceive you based on the way you dress allows you to decide how youโd like to be perceived and dress accordingly.
If you donโt care, thatโs your business, but keep in mind the words of Ayn Rand, โThere is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: the fashionable non-conformist.โ
