Wilfrid Laurier University is mourning the loss of John Saville, an instructor in the Department of Physics and Computer Science.

Saville, who taught in the department for 13 years, passed away suddenly on Oct. 25.

โ€œThe university has been in close contact with Johnโ€™s family to offer support and extend heartfelt sympathy on behalf of the Department of Physics and Computer Science Department, the Faculty of Science and the entire Laurier community,โ€ Laurierโ€™s official statement read.

The department often received positive and sincere feedback from students about Saville, who taught over 1500 students a year. He was a resource for his fellow faculty members when the university transitioned to a remote-learning model in the spring.

Information about a memorial service will be provided once it becomes available.
