MDMA article falls short

Re: “Unmasking ecstasy culture” Sept. 14

This is an article with a lot of potential that falls far short. It reads as a stereotypical piece that could have been lifted straight from Wikipedia, failing to “unmask” the true widespread culture surrounding the drug, of which raves make up only a small niche use.

First-hand accounts would have served to greatly improve this article instead of the typical “horror story” accounts surrounding this drug — which in most cases comes not from simple use, but from abuse.

Research on the substance, like any other (alcohol, marijuana, etc.) is readily available and people who overuse it shouldn’t be surprised at the negative side effects they experience.
