In conjunction with the WLUSU student elections, the School of Business and Economics Students Society (SBESS) also elected their president for the 2013-14 academic year โ€” Brandon Van Dam.

โ€œItโ€™s definitely a mix of emotion, itโ€™s something that Iโ€™ve worked for the past four years and itโ€™s exciting to move the organization forward,โ€ he explained shortly after the results were announced.

Van Dam worked within corporate relations for the SBESS for past three years and currently holds the position of executive vice-president of academic affairs. Although his term begins in May, Van Dam is eager to get started.

โ€œI think a big thing is to get started early. I want to get my team hired and to get working to get everything that I want get accomplished out and ensure we bring value to SBE students,โ€ he said.

โ€œI want to thank everyone, Iโ€™m very relieved that itโ€™s over,โ€ he concluded.
