SBESS electes new president

In conjunction with the WLUSU student elections, the School of Business and Economics Students Society (SBESS) also elected their president for the 2013-14 academic year — Brandon Van Dam.

“It’s definitely a mix of emotion, it’s something that I’ve worked for the past four years and it’s exciting to move the organization forward,” he explained shortly after the results were announced.

Van Dam worked within corporate relations for the SBESS for past three years and currently holds the position of executive vice-president of academic affairs. Although his term begins in May, Van Dam is eager to get started.

“I think a big thing is to get started early. I want to get my team hired and to get working to get everything that I want get accomplished out and ensure we bring value to SBE students,” he said.

“I want to thank everyone, I’m very relieved that it’s over,” he concluded.
