Laurier student Rean Heckroodt passes away

On Friday, October 21, Wilfrid Laurier University issued a statement to notify the Laurier community of the passing of Rean Heckroodt, a first-year student.

“The Wilfrid Laurier University community is deeply saddened by the passing of first-year student, Rean Heckroodt. The university expresses sincere condolences to Reanโ€™s family and friends and is taking steps to provide support and assistance to those affected. All Laurier students are reminded that support is always available through the Student Wellness Centre or the Dean of Studentโ€™s office,” said Kevin Crowley, director of communications and public affairs.

Heckroodt passed away on October 9, 2016. He was 18 years old and from Hamilton, Ontario.

Donations in memory of Heckroodt to Big Brothers Big Sisters Hamilton can be made and are greatly appreciated.
