In Review: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I

The first instalment of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is a highly recommendable movie.

The film annihilated the competition, grossing over $125 million in its opening weekend; over $100 million more than any other film that week.

In the seventh film of the series, audiences finally get a glimpse of the magical world outside of Hogwarts, and get to see deeper into the Ministry of Magic. Despite obviously darker themes, there are still endearingly funny moments.

The action in the first of the two-part finale is spectacular. Almost immediately after the opening credits a fantastic magical battle between the Death Eaters and the Order of the Phoenix takes place.

The settings are extraordinary, as Harry, Ron and Hermione abandon the world of Hogwarts and travel from London to forested rural areas of the English countryside to mountainous regions.

The film contains great action, humour, some romance and moments of suspense that will make you jump.

Catering to previous fans of the Harry Potter franchise, the most painful part of the movie is the length, and having to wait for the rest of the conclusion.

Despite some characters and scenes coming off as cheesy, it is still a very engaging plot. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I is a great movie, which leaves the audience eagerly anticipating the second part now that the real battle has begun.
