Laurier student Mackenzie Elliott passes away

On Thursday, August 4, Wilfrid Laurier University issued a statement to notify the passing of Laurier student, Mackenzie “Mac” Elliott. He passed away on August 1 and was 20-years old.

Elliott had just finished his first year in honours psychology in the faculty of science. He lived in King Street Residence during his first year at Laurier.

According to the obituary, Elliott had a passion for music and was a member of the Burlington Teen Tour Band.

“Our hearts go out to the Elliott family,” said Kevin Crowley, director of communications and public affairs for the university, in a written statement.

“The Laurier community is close-knit; it is extremely sad to lose a member, especially someone so young. The university lowered its flags to half mast on the Waterloo campus and staff from Student Affairs attended the visitation on Thursday.”
