Social Media Coordinator

The Cord is hiring a Social Media Coordinator! The Social Media Coordinator is expected to have strong time management skills, exhibit comfort with social media channels and โ€œnew mediaโ€ techniques, be organized and work independently on a social media strategy. The ideal candidate should also be able to:

  • Create and execute creative social media marketing campaigns to increase brand awareness and engagement in the Wilfrid Laurier University and Kitchener-Waterloo communities
  • Monitor all social media channels for The Cord and address important mentions in real-time through engagement, escalation and documentation
  • Create consistency for all social media channels
  • Tweet out all stories published by The Cord in a timely manner with good engagement strategies; publish stories on Facebook and help with Instagram scheduling
  • Partner with other editors and managers to contribute as well as manage Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, LinkedIn and other platforms as necessary
  • Use clients such as ScribbleLive, Tweetdeck, Hootsuite
  • Help promote WLUSP and its initiatives through The Cord
  • Develop strategies for existing social tools to help increase brand awareness and drive traffic
  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge of the necessity of social media in todayโ€™s journalism age
  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and their participants, and how these can be developed
  • Excellent writing skills that can translate to short-form content
