This week, G7 and G20 finance ministers and central bank governors convene in Washington DC.
The meetings which run from April 22 to 25 will address everything from the weaknesses which led to the global financial crisis to the establishment of priorities for the June 2010 Toronto Summit.
On April 20, the Canadian Department of Finance held a briefing on the upcoming talks in the U.S. capital where finance minister Jim Flaherty will be in attendance throughout the weekend.
According to a senior finance official, Flaherty is expected to push for a timely completion of the reforms previously outlined by the G20 in the wake of last yearโs financial crisis. These regulatory measures were drafted as a means to safeguard against future economic downturns.
