SCS assisted Parking Services in removing a vehicle parked in a reserved area with outstanding parking fines levied against it. The vehicle was towed by Active Towing to their impound lot.


Liquor Offence

SCS officers dealt with a 19-year-old female non-student on the roadway in possession of a container of open alcohol. The alcohol was disposed off and several pieces of false identification was also seized. She was sent on her way with a verbal warning.

SCS officers and ERT members attended to the A.C. in response to a call for medical assistance. A 20-year-old male student was assessed and treated by ERT for a sports related injury. He had sustained a dislocated finger from playing basketball.

SCS officers and ERT members attended to the A.C. in response to a call for medical assistance. A 19-year-old male student was assessed and treated by ERT for a sports related injury. He had sustained a dislocated finger from playing basketball. He was transported to Grand River Hospital by a friend for further treatment.


By-Law Complaint

SCS officers issued a Provincial Offence Notice to a 24-year-old (non-student) in contravention of the City of Waterloo By-Law for public urination. Officers on mobile patrol witnessed the suspect committing the offence on WLU property at the front of 232 King St. (offices of the SCS).

SCS officers assisted Parking Services in removing a vehicle from WLU property. The vehicle had a number of unpaid fines levied against it. It was towed by Active Towing to their impound lot


Alarm

Location: Residence

Date reported: Feb. 15, 2011 @ 8:06 p.m.

SCS officers and members from the Waterloo Fire Dept. attended to the student residence in response to an activated fire alarm. The cause of the alarm was found to be as a result of someone burning food on the stove and setting off a smoke detector. There was no fire or damage to the unit.

SCS officers responded to a burglary alarm at this campus location. An interior and exterior check of the premises was conducted and everything appeared to be in order. The alarm was reset.


Theft Under $5,000

Location: F.N.C.C.

Date reported: Feb. 16, 2011 @ 2:17 a.m.

The staff at The Terrace Food Court called SCS to report a theft of food from the Williams Coffee outlet. A female had left the food outlet without paying for a salad entree. SCS officers attended but she was gone on their arrival and they were unable to locate her. There are no CCTV cameras in this area.

Suspect description: Female, Caucasian, 5’ 3”, blonde hair with black highlights, wearing a green knee length coat with black tights or pants.

SCS officers attended to the student residence in response to a complaint of suspected drug usage. A small amount of marihuana and drug paraphernalia was seized for destruction. Residence Life will be dealing with the five students that were involved with the infraction.


Property Damage

Person(s) unknown removed a plastic light cover from a light source in the stairway between the Dining Hall and the Paul Martin Centre. There are no CCTV cameras in this particular area. There are no suspects in this matter.

SCS officers attended to the student residence in response to a complaint of suspected drug usage. Three male students were located and admitted to smoking marihuana in the underground garage. No drugs or paraphernalia was located in their residences. They will be dealt with by Residence Life for the infraction.

SCS officers attended to the student residence in response to a complaint of suspected drug usage outside of the building. Three male students were located nearby, however there was no evidence to indicate the males had been smoking marihuana.


Unwanted Person

Location: Residence

Date reported: Feb. 17, 2011 @ 1:57 a.m.

A complaint was received about two undesirable males at the student residence harassing and being a general nuisance to the students in the building. They were located by attending SCS officers and identified as out of town guests of a student living in the building. Alcohol was a contributing factor in their unwanted behaviour. They were evicted from the building and sent on their way.

SCS officers assisted Parking Services with the removal of a motor vehicle from WLU property for having outstanding fines levied against it. Active Towing and the registered owner arrived on scene simultaneously. The towing bill was settled with the towing company.

SCS officers received a call from the Science building advising that a female was feeling faint and having trouble breathing. Officers attended to the Science Building to offer assistance. No further medical treatment needed.

SCS Officers attended to the Residence for a suspected drug usage by two Resident students. The two students admitted to smoking marijuana in the room. A small amount of marijuana was seized along with other various drug paraphernalia for destruction.

SCS officers assisted Parking Service with the removal of a motor vehicle from WLU private property for several unpaid parking fines that had been levied against it. Active Towing removed the vehicle to their impound lot.


M.V.C. – H and Run

SCS is investigating a complaint of a parked vehicle that had been struck by another vehicle that had failed to remain at the scene. The damage was deemed to be minor (Under $1,000.00). It’s unknown if the damage occurred on or off campus property.

An abandoned bicycle discovered by SCS officers and placed in storage for safekeeping was returned to the rightful owner. He identified the bicycle as his property.


Theft Under $5,000

Date reported: Feb. 18, 2011 @ 5:30 p.m.

SCS officers are investigating the theft of a lap top computer stolen from the fourth floor of the Library. The owner had stepped away from his study area and left his personal belongings unattended for a short period of time. Upon his return he discovered that his lap top had been stolen. SCS is once again reminding everyone not to leave personal belongings unattended for any period of time anywhere on campus! You will be victimized.

SCS officers attended to the Food Court Terrace in response to an activated burglary alarm. One of the rear doors was found to be insecure. The remainder of the building was secure and everything was in order.

SCS officers attended to the Food Court Terrace in response to an activated burglary alarm. It was discovered that a custodial staff member had entered the area unaware that the premises were armed. All in order.

SCS officers responded to the Bookstore to investigate a glass break alarm at the main entrance. The alarm occurred at the same time as a fire alarm in the Concourse, and it is believed that they are associated. All in order.

SCS officers responded to the Concourse to investigate a fire alarm. A faulty smoke detector was determined to be the cause and was replaced by Physical Plant.
