Approximately 50 to 60 students gathered outside the Aird Underpass to rally against Bob Rae’s recommendation to lift the current tuition freeze. The protest was organized by the Graduate Students Association, who made the argument that increasing tuition would put students in greater debt, which would discourage them from pursuing graduate studies.

The Students Union unveiled a Research Internship Program, which will give students the opportunity to conduct research for a non-profit organization instead of writing an essay for a class. A student must have permission from his/her professor in order to take part, and demonstrate that taking part in the research is beneficial to your learning. The students’ union passed a question to go to referendum that asked students to vote on whether they would like to pay $120 per year for dental coverage. The plan would cover 80 to 90 per cent of the cost of procedures such as preventative maintenance, fillings and minor restorations. The co-ordinator of Foot Patrol on Laurier’s Brantford campus Ryan Duncan was fired after several allegations against him. Duncan was accused of telling students that it was acceptable to drink in the Foot office and being in possession of marijuana while on shift. On one particular occasion, Duncan showed his weed to students who were getting a ride home.
